Sheri Wilkins, Ph.D. is president of Innovative Educational Solutions, an educational consulting firm dedicated to building the capacity of educators to meet the needs of all students. Dr. Sheri has worked in the field of public education for over 35 years and has had extensive experience in advising, coaching, training, and facilitating. Sheri has expertise in positive behavior supports, curriculum and instruction, school culture, special education, and systems change. She has worked with school systems across the U.S. and Australia to bring together stakeholders in conversations designed to increase collaboration, positively impact teaching and learning, and build dynamic educational systems that are student-focused and results-driven.
Known for her entertaining presentations, Dr. Sheri believes that all people learn more effectively when humor is added to the mix. She also believes in the power of facilitative conversations and is most happy when she is able to coach an individual or a group to finding their own solutions to pressing issues. Sheri has completed over 250 hours of facilitation training and 40 hours of mediation training and has facilitated hundreds of IEP meetings. She is the parent of four sons, two of whom received special education and related services when they were students. In 2009, following the car accident and traumatic brain injury of one of her children, Dr. Sheri focused her attention on researching specific strategies for developing executive function skills and sharing those strategies with parents and educators. This experience led Dr. Sheri to write, with co-author with Carol Burmeister, FLIPP the Switch: Strengthen Executive Function Skills and FLIPP the Switch 2.0: Mastering Executive Function Skills from School to Adult Life for Students with Autism, co-authored with Carol Burmeister and Dr. Rebecca Silva.
